Crew Change Driver – Mombasa

About the role

The Crew Change Driver ensures safe, efficient and courteous transport of seafarers between ports, airports, hotels and medical facilities in Mombasa. Working on a 24/7 roster, the driver supports Inchcape Shipping Services’ operations by coordinating with port agencies, hotels and the operations control desk.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, defensive driving of manual transmission vehicles across varied traffic, weather and port conditions, complying with local laws and company safety policies.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, fuel level, and daily roadworthiness checks; keep accurate mileage, trip logs and fuel receipts.
• Act as the company’s front‑line representative, greeting crew, assisting with heavy luggage and communicating transit times, safety procedures and terminal instructions.
• Transport sick or injured crew to medical facilities with empathy and discretion.
• Liaise with the Port Agency/Operations team for daily schedules and last‑minute changes; coordinate hotel reservations and check‑ins for crew.
• Update the ISS Operations control desk on task commencement, progress and completion via Microsoft Teams or other linked platforms.
• Advise crew on basic port agency guidelines, local customs and security protocols.
• Manage time to avoid any delays to flight departures or vessel sailings, including work during nights, weekends and public holidays.

Required profile

• Strong customer‑service orientation and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
• Good physical stamina for handling heavy luggage and long periods of driving.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Ability to remain calm and empathetic in sensitive situations.

Required skills
