Driver Trainer

About the role

The Driver Trainer is responsible for delivering safety, defensive driving and orientation training to new and existing drivers across Kenya. The role includes coaching on the road, conducting assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Submit 100% of training, coaching and assessment reports monthly.
• Maintain updated training materials quarterly to reflect regulatory, customer and operational changes.
• Deliver induction, defensive driving and refresher training achieving at least 95% annual attendance.
• Complete 100% of driver assessments (new recruits, internal reassessments, post‑accident) within 48 hours of request.
• Conduct monthly MiX telematics coaching for flagged drivers, targeting a minimum 20% reduction in violations annually.
• Participate in 100% of accident/incident investigations within 24 hours.
• Maintain 100% accuracy in training records, matrices and compliance documentation.
• Conduct at least 12 toolbox talks annually with a minimum of 85% driver attendance.
• Record and submit at least five hazards or near‑misses each month and follow up on corrective actions.
• Ensure 100% compliance in the issuance, tracking and sign‑in/out of keys, GPS devices, phones and diesel cards.
• Provide site‑specific induction and customer SOP orientation for all new drivers within 24 hours of reporting.
• Complete on‑road coaching for high‑risk drivers identified through MiX within five working days.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Minimum three years’ experience delivering driver training courses.
• Minimum six years’ heavy‑haul driving experience.
• Logistics and warehouse experience.
• Ability to follow work procedures and safety rules.
• Ability to read, understand and follow directions and instructions.
• Strong communication skills across all management levels.
• Professional presentation and ability to uphold the company image.

• Proficiency with the MiX telematics platform for driver coaching and monitoring.
