About the role

UNODC is seeking a National Consultant to design and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum for transcription staff of the Kenya Judiciary. The consultant will lead the development of eight modules covering court operations, transcription standards, legal terminology, technology, quality assurance, data protection, customer service and performance management.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct stakeholder consultations and a training needs assessment across the judiciary.
  • Design, develop and finalize curriculum modules, incorporating AI‑based transcription tools and speech‑to‑text technologies.
  • Prepare draft reports, obtain stakeholder review, and pilot‑test the curriculum in selected counties.
  • Produce the final training curriculum, accompanying instructional materials and a comprehensive consultancy report.
  • Coordinate travel to PLEAD II counties for field validation and capacity‑building workshops.

Required profile

  • Kenyan national with proven experience in curriculum and instructional design, preferably in legal or justice settings.
  • Strong understanding of court transcription processes, legal terminology and data‑protection requirements.
  • Familiarity with the use of artificial‑intelligence and speech‑to‑text solutions in transcription.
  • Excellent analytical, writing and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
