Customer Service Representative – Patient Scheduling

About the role

The Stony Brook Family and Preventive Medicine (UFPC) is seeking a Customer Service Representative to manage patient appointment scheduling and provide front‑line support. This full‑time, onsite position involves handling a high volume of calls, verifying insurance, and ensuring accurate data entry in a fast‑paced medical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments following established protocols.
• Answer and route a high volume of phone calls.
• Obtain, verify, and input patient information into the scheduling system.
• Conduct insurance verification and update records.
• Provide courteous customer service and resolve or escalate patient inquiries.
• Maintain accurate documentation and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent typing ability and friendly telephone etiquette.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience with an appointment scheduling system.
