Customer Service Representative – Scheduling & Patient Support

About the role

The Stony Brook Family and Preventive Medicine department is seeking a dedicated Customer Service Representative to manage high‑volume patient appointment scheduling and provide front‑line support. This full‑time position works primarily on‑site, offering a structured schedule with occasional Saturday shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Answer and direct a large volume of phone calls, scheduling patient appointments according to established protocols.
• Accurately input patient information into the scheduling system and conduct insurance verification.
• Deliver courteous, professional customer service to patients, resolving inquiries or escalating when necessary.
• Route calls to appropriate departments and perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with excellent telephone etiquette.
• Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
• Preferred: at least six months of clerical experience, preferably in a physician practice or call‑center setting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

• Competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.30 to $22.87.
• Full‑time schedule: Monday‑Thursday 9 am‑5:30 pm, Friday 8:30 am‑5 pm, occasional Saturdays 8:30 am‑1 pm.
