Director of Brand & Storytelling

About the role

Inkomoko is seeking a strategic and creative leader to shape and amplify its brand narrative across East and Central Africa. Reporting to the VP of External Affairs, the Director of Brand & Storytelling will define a distinctive, client‑centered brand story that resonates with entrepreneurs, including refugee founders, and supports the organization’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Define and refine a clear, distinctive brand positioning rooted in client impact and credibility.
• Own the organization’s core story, messaging framework, and narrative priorities.
• Ensure all communications, digital assets, campaigns, and regional messaging align with the brand narrative.
• Lead a team of managers responsible for brand, digital, campaigns, and regional communications, focusing on alignment, quality, and impact.
• Set strategic direction for communications, brand, and storytelling across Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Chad.
• Measure brand strength, narrative clarity, and influence, using data‑driven metrics rather than output volume.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in brand strategy, storytelling, or communications within a multi‑country or regional context.
• Demonstrated ability to craft compelling, client‑focused narratives that drive credibility and engagement.
• Strong strategic thinking with a track record of aligning teams around a unified brand vision.
• Experience working in development, social impact, or entrepreneurship ecosystems is a plus.
