Director, Private Sector Finance, Health Systems Strengthening

About the role

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking a senior leader to shape private‑sector financing strategies that expand access to high‑quality health services across Africa. Reporting to senior health‑financing leadership, the Director will guide the development of innovative financing mechanisms and partnerships with private providers, investors, and market facilitators.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement private‑sector financing models that address the “missing middle” of health‑business funding gaps.
• Lead market analyses to identify barriers and opportunities for private capital in health systems.
• Collaborate with government, NGOs, and private‑sector partners to align financing solutions with national health priorities.
• Oversee the preparation of business cases, financial projections, and risk assessments for health‑service investments.
• Mentor and manage a multidisciplinary team of finance and health‑system experts.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in finance, economics, public health, or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in health financing, investment banking, private‑equity, or related sectors, preferably in low‑ and middle‑income country contexts.
• Proven track record of developing and scaling financing solutions for health services.
• Strong understanding of African health markets and private‑sector dynamics.
