Financial Accountant – Nairobi

About the role

The Financial Accountant will ensure the integrity, accuracy, and control of EIDU Kenya’s financial records and reporting. Working closely with the Finance Manager, this role blends finance execution with management oversight to support the organization’s rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes, prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; review and approve journal entries, accruals, pre‑payments and adjustments.
• Prepare and review balance‑sheet and bank reconciliations, investigate discrepancies and keep documentation.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, PAYE, WHT and other statutory requirements; prepare tax schedules and support filings.
• Lead audit preparation, respond to auditor queries and track resolution of findings.
• Oversee accounts payable, receivable, inventory, payroll and cash processes, reviewing work of the Finance & Operations Associate.
• Implement and improve internal controls, systems and processes.
• Mentor junior finance colleagues and promote high‑quality execution.

Required profile

• Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations (VAT, PAYE, WHT) and statutory filing requirements.
• Experience preparing for external audits and managing audit queries.
• Ability to supervise and mentor junior finance staff.
