Education Officer – Kakuma, Kenya

About the role

The Education Officer will manage and implement a portfolio of education projects in Kakuma, Kenya, supporting basic education, youth training and teacher capacity building. Reporting to the line manager and Education Specialist, the role ensures compliance with donor requirements and NRC policies while delivering high‑quality technical assistance to beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, monitor and implement budgets, activities and documentation for education projects.
• Prepare regular progress, status and financial reports for management and donors.
• Coordinate assessments, sensitisation, mobilisation and follow‑up activities at field level.
• Develop and distribute training modules, educational materials and equipment.
• Provide technical support and on‑the‑job training to project assistants and local partners.
• Lead education sector assessments and support capacity building of Ministry of Education, BOMs, head teachers and community stakeholders.
• Maintain proper filing, procurement processes and ensure projects target the most vulnerable beneficiaries.
• Participate in education working groups, workshops and conferences at county and area levels.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in Education, International Development or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing education programmes in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of basic education, teacher training and youth skills development.
• Experience preparing project proposals, budgets and narrative reports.
• Ability to work closely with government authorities, NGOs and community leaders.
