Field Placement Specialist

About the role

The School of Education at Ferris State University is seeking a Field Placement Specialist to coordinate clinical experiences for teacher‑education students across Michigan. This full‑time position involves matching students with early‑childhood and PK‑12 schools, maintaining placement records, and supporting faculty and university supervisors.

Key responsibilities

• Place and monitor students in early‑childhood, elementary, and secondary school internships.
• Maintain accurate placement databases and audit student‑teacher records.
• Develop and sustain partnerships with K‑12 schools and early‑childhood centers throughout the state.
• Provide orientation sessions and information meetings for students at least twice each semester.
• Participate in student‑teaching seminars, department meetings, and ad‑hoc committees.
• Travel within eastern and, as needed, western Michigan to foster new placement sites.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Education or a closely related field.
• Documented work experience in K‑12 settings.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and human‑relations abilities.
• Ability to work with diverse constituencies and build collaborative relationships.
• Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
