Field Technician

About the role

CBX Solutions is seeking a Field Technician to install and commission wireless access points, door hardware, access control panels, CCTV cameras, NVRs, and structured cabling systems. The role involves work in new construction and retrofit projects across a variety of environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install structured cabling (copper, fiber, low‑voltage, coax) and cable pathway systems.
• Deploy network switches, wireless access points, analog and IP cameras, and related NVR/VMS platforms.
• Terminate, test, label, and document horizontal and backbone cabling.
• Assist lead technicians, follow best‑practice installation procedures, and support project commissioning.
• Track daily tasks, hours worked, and maintain a clean worksite.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current certification in at least one VMS system.
• Current certification in at least one structured cabling system.
• Minimum one year experience as an installer or equivalent.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

Required skills

• Basic networking principles.
• IP camera and analog camera technology.
• Controller and door hardware knowledge.
• Termination and testing of category and fiber optic cables.
• Low‑voltage system fundamentals.
