About the role
The Fire Crew Chief leads a fire crew to deliver high‑quality resource protection and fire‑fighting support for structural, aircraft and other hazardous operations. This position operates under Department of Defense (DoD), contract and NFPA standards, ensuring safety and rapid response in challenging environments.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the lead crew member on site, directing fire‑suppression, rescue and prevention activities.
- Maintain operational readiness of personnel, vehicles and equipment.
- Control fire attack, confinement, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue operations.
- Assess and document emergency scene conditions and report to supervisors.
- Oversee care and maintenance of fire‑fighting equipment, station and grounds.
- Resolve minor administrative and personnel issues; refer major matters to senior officers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in fire services.
- Associate’s degree in fire science management, emergency management, public administration or related field preferred.
- DoD, IFSAC or National Pro‑Board certifications such as Fire Fighter I & II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, HazMat Operations, and Airport Fire Fighter where applicable.
- Hazardous Materials Incident Commander certification.
- First Responder and CPR qualifications.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
