About the role
World Vision is seeking a Graduate Advocacy & External Engagement Intern to support its child‑rights advocacy programmes in Kenya. The role will assist senior staff in designing and delivering campaigns, policy analysis and multi‑country workshops aimed at influencing public policy and protecting children.
Key responsibilities
- Support development and implementation of advocacy and external engagement strategies.
- Conduct policy research and analysis related to child rights and humanitarian contexts.
- Assist in planning and organising workshops, forums and stakeholder meetings across multiple countries.
- Prepare briefing notes, reports and communication materials for internal and external audiences.
- Monitor and document progress of advocacy campaigns and provide regular updates.
- Contribute to partnership building and compliance monitoring activities.
Required profile
- 1–2 years of experience in advocacy, external engagement, campaigns or policy analysis in developing countries.
- Knowledge of child‑rights frameworks such as the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child or the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
- Experience organising multi‑country workshops or forums.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in cross‑cultural settings.
- Proven research abilities, especially in policy and advocacy topics.
- Understanding of humanitarian and fragile contexts.
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, management, law or related field; graduated within the last two years.
- Training certificate on advocacy, child rights or policy influence is an advantage.
