Graduate People & Culture Intern

About the role

The People & Culture Graduate Intern will support Mercy Corps Kenya’s People & Culture team in delivering HR services across the employee lifecycle. This 6‑month internship provides recent graduates with hands‑on experience in recruitment, onboarding, employee records, staff engagement, HR analytics and compliance while contributing to the organization’s humanitarian mission.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with talent acquisition tasks such as posting jobs, screening applications, scheduling interviews and communicating with candidates.
• Support onboarding and orientation activities, ensuring new‑hire documentation is complete and filed.
• Maintain accurate employee records in HR systems, update staff databases and track probation reviews, contract renewals and other lifecycle changes.
• Help organise staff engagement, wellness and recognition events and contribute to internal communications that promote Mercy Corps values.
• Collect, analyse and report HR data, prepare dashboards and support people‑analytics projects while safeguarding data confidentiality.
• Uphold Mercy Corps’ Code of Conduct, safeguarding standards and compliance with Kenyan labour law and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with an interest in human resources or related fields.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
