Head of Customer Finance – Renewable Energy

About the role

The Head of Customer Finance will shape and execute the customer finance strategy for Brites Management Services Limited in Kenya, supporting the renewable energy business. Reporting to the Country Leadership Team, this senior role combines strategic direction, portfolio ownership and profit‑centre management.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the country‑wide customer finance strategy, aligning with group and business objectives.
• Act as the primary authority on credit risk, portfolio strategy and financing decisions.
• Provide strategic direction on customer segmentation, risk‑based pricing and credit policies.
• Lead market intelligence, competitor benchmarking and digital lending model innovation.
• Own end‑to‑end performance of the credit portfolio, approving high‑value and complex credit decisions.
• Oversee collections, recovery strategies and enforce best‑in‑class underwriting standards.
• Operate the finance function as a profit centre, managing revenue contribution, portfolio profitability and cost control.
• Develop budgets, forecasts and financial performance metrics while ensuring compliance with internal policies and Kenyan regulations.
• Design and oversee credit risk measurement, monitoring and reporting frameworks.
• Manage day‑to‑day credit operations across assessment, underwriting, loan monitoring and collections, driving process optimisation and automation.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with at least 8 years of experience in credit risk, portfolio management and finance, preferably within the energy sector.
• Proven track record of leading finance functions as profit centres and delivering growth while maintaining portfolio quality.
• Deep knowledge of Kenyan regulatory requirements, credit bureau standards and internal credit policies.
• Strong advisory capability to senior leadership on risk‑return trade‑offs and growth strategy.
