Head of Product Control & Accounting

About the role

Monipoint is looking for a senior finance professional to lead product control and accounting across its fintech platform. The role sits between Finance and the Product & Technology teams, ensuring every new product, feature, or pricing change is correctly designed from an accounting and control perspective before launch.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical accounting partner for Product and Engineering on all new initiatives.
• Write technical accounting memos and position papers covering IFRS 15, IFRS 9, fee vs. interest income treatment, and other standards.
• Design, build, and maintain the chart of accounts for new and existing products, ensuring consistency across entities.
• Map each stage of the customer journey (onboarding, transaction, settlement, fee, reversal, write‑off) to the appropriate GL treatment.
• Review product and engineering specifications pre‑launch to flag accounting and control gaps.
• Own reconciliation between product/transaction system data and the general ledger, resolving discrepancies at source.
• Design and document controls for new product flows, including maker‑checker, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Maintain a living library of accounting treatment documentation per product.
• Partner with Financial Control, Internal Audit, and external auditors on product‑related technical accounting queries.

Required profile

• ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) with 8+ years post‑qualification experience, including Big 4 technical accounting or audit background.
• Strong working knowledge of IFRS 15 (revenue) and IFRS 9 (financial instruments).
• Proven ability to translate product or system designs into accounting treatment and GL structure.
• Comfortable reading product specifications and collaborating directly with engineers and product managers.
• Preferred experience in payments, fintech, or banking and exposure to regulatory reporting requirements.
