Head of Risk Management – Group CIO

About the role

The Head of Risk Management for the Group Chief Information Officer (GCIO) leads the risk management portfolio across Technology & Operations (T&O). Reporting to the Global Head of T&O Risk & Governance, this senior leader embeds risk frameworks, governance routines and control programmes within the First Line of Defence of the CIO’s domains.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the risk management direction for the CIO’s domains, aligned with the T&O Risk & Governance strategy.
• Implement the Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF) and Principal Risk Type Frameworks, ensuring compliance with the Group’s risk appetite and policies.
• Proactively identify, assess and escalate emerging and horizon risks, coordinating mitigation plans with CIO stakeholders.
• Provide risk oversight and effective challenge to major transformation and modernisation initiatives, embedding risk considerations into delivery governance.
• Drive issue remediation, oversee portfolio‑level audit and regulatory engagement, and ensure timely escalation of material risks.
• Partner closely with CIO leadership, first‑ and second‑line risk functions and governance bodies to embed risk into operational decision‑making.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in risk management, preferably within technology or operations environments.
• Deep knowledge of enterprise risk frameworks, governance standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive proactive risk identification and mitigation.
• Strong track record of leading cross‑functional teams and managing complex risk portfolios.
