About the role
The Health Specialist (Vaccine Preventable Disease Control) will join UNICEF's Global Programme Division in Nairobi, supporting the Measles and Rubella Partnership (M&RP) and the Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) initiative. Reporting to the Senior Adviser Health, Accelerated disease control, the incumbent will provide technical assistance to country and regional offices and contribute to global policy standards.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality, demand‑driven technical assistance on vaccine‑preventable disease control across UNICEF country and regional offices.
- Support policy reform, at‑scale programme design, public finance, workforce development and institutional strengthening related to measles, rubella and yellow fever.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of global standards and frameworks for vaccine‑preventable disease programmes.
- Collaborate with the Centres of Excellence network to ensure coherence and alignment of technical support.
Required profile
- Professional experience in vaccine‑preventable disease control, preferably within measles, rubella or yellow fever programmes.
- Fluency in French (Francophone) and English.
- Experience working in international development or UN contexts is desirable.
Required skills
- Vaccine‑preventable disease control expertise.
- Knowledge of Measles and Rubella Partnership (M&RP) frameworks.
- Understanding of Eliminate Yellow fever Epidemics (EYE) objectives.
- Policy reform and programme design skills.
