Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Vehicle Sustainment

About the role

MANTECH is seeking a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its vehicle sustainment team in Kenya. You will support the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program by maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of heavy‑duty vehicles and electro‑mechanical systems worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Research, design and develop new applications for electro‑mechanical equipment and systems.
• Review contractor specifications to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
• Repair, redesign, or evaluate gas and diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and instrumentation systems.
• Conduct routine engineering research, calculations and simple tests to upgrade existing hardware.
• Guide technicians in fabrication and installation of mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with design and customer specifications.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support global vehicle families.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of qualified mechanical experience with light or heavy‑duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, aviation ground support, generators, power plants or similar diesel/gasoline equipment.
• Proven maintenance background in industrial manufacturing, commercial or military operations.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing U.S. systems and subsystems to component level.
• Valid driver’s license, high school diploma or GED, and a passport valid at least one year beyond start date.
• U.S. citizenship with an active Secret clearance.
