HSE Officer

About the role

We are seeking an HSE Officer to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives within our manufacturing plant in Nairobi. The role involves developing policies, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with local regulations to protect employees, contractors and the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and programs in line with legislation.
• Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments, hazard identification and enforce PPE usage.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near‑misses, prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks and HSE training for staff and contractors.
• Monitor occupational health risks and oversee fire safety system validation across plant sections.
• Ensure compliance with environmental permits, manage waste, emissions and wastewater treatment operations.
• Coordinate environmental audits, maintain records and prepare regulatory reports.
• Develop emergency response plans, conduct drills and ensure readiness of fire extinguishers, first‑aid and spill kits.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• 2‑5 years of HSE experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan HSE legislation and international standards.
• Excellent communication, training and reporting abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
