HVAC Technician

About the role

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to ensure safe, efficient and reliable climate control across all school facilities. You will play a key part in maintaining a comfortable learning and working environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the campus.
• Conduct routine inspections, testing and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults down to the component level, performing corrective repairs.
• Maintain and upgrade air‑conditioning infrastructure and ventilation control systems to optimise indoor air quality.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programmes to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Oversee work performed by external contractors, ensuring compliance with quality, safety and performance standards.
• Maintain accurate records of all HVAC activities, including service reports and technical drawings.
• Ensure proper calibration of HVAC controls and automation systems for energy efficiency.

Required profile

• KCSE or equivalent.
• Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or a related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance and repair in institutional, industrial or commercial settings.
• Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations related to refrigerant handling.
