Information Technology Intern

About the role

Save the Children is looking for an Information Technology Intern to join its Kenya & Madagascar team. Working under the guidance of the IT Officer, you will provide first‑line (L1) technical support to staff across country and field offices, helping to keep essential IT services running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Log and manage IT support calls in JIRA for Kenya & Madagascar staff.
• Provide day‑to‑day end‑user support for computers, laptops, scanners, projectors and network equipment.
• Install, configure and maintain new hardware and mobile data devices.
• Create and deliver training materials and user guidance for hardware and software.
• Back up data regularly and ensure backup security.
• Cover the IT Officer during leave or other assignments.
• Escalate major hardware/software issues to vendors or technicians.
• Assist with rollout of local IT projects and contribute to web or mobile application development as required.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from an IT, Computer Science or related programme.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow documented procedures.
• Strong communication skills to support staff across multiple locations.

Required skills

• Experience with JIRA ticketing system.
• Hardware troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, scanners and projectors.
• Basic network equipment configuration and support.
• Mobile device configuration and support.
• Data backup and security practices.
• Installation and configuration of operating systems and applications.
• Fundamental web or mobile application development knowledge.
