Integrated Maintenance Strategy & Implementation Consultant

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to design, pilot, and operationalize an integrated maintenance approach for health technologies across primary health care facilities. The assignment will focus on improving equipment functionality, service continuity, and overall health system resilience in selected pilot countries.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct baseline assessments of existing maintenance practices for cold chain, medical devices, oxygen systems, ICT infrastructure, waste management, and solar energy solutions.
• Develop an operational model that coordinates maintenance activities across multiple health technology domains.
• Pilot the integrated maintenance framework in selected countries, including fragile and high‑impact settings.
• Strengthen government ownership, technical capacity, and financing mechanisms for sustainable maintenance.
• Document lessons learned and produce scalable models for broader adoption.

Required profile

• Proven experience in health equipment maintenance or health systems strengthening.
• Experience working with government agencies and international donors.
• Ability to work remotely while traveling to field sites as required.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
