Lecturer – General Nursing

About the role

The Lecturer – General Nursing will deliver foundational and advanced nursing education through classroom lectures, laboratory simulations, and hospital ward mentorship. Reporting to the Head of Nursing School, the role ensures high‑quality teaching, assessment and compliance with Nursing Council regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design and deliver evidence‑based lectures, practical demonstrations and laboratory sessions aligned with the approved curriculum.
• Create, evaluate and standardise all course examinations and continuous assessments.
• Supervise student research activities, monitor milestones and grade final submissions.
• Oversee fieldwork, case‑study portfolios and clinical competency assessments.
• Collect and act on learner feedback to improve teaching methods and content.
• Provide clinical supervision and mentorship on hospital wards.
• Carry out departmental administrative tasks such as admissions, induction programmes and committee participation.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
• Minimum three years of experience in general nursing education.
• Valid practice licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
• Strong knowledge of the NCK curriculum structure.

Required skills

• Lesson planning.
• Design and assessment of OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations).
• Clinical supervision and mentorship.
