About the role
The Legal Consultant will provide high‑quality legal and procedural advisory services to support the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) on plastic pollution. This role strengthens UNEP’s governance and decision‑making processes and contributes to the creation of a binding international instrument.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality legal and procedural advisory services to support the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) on plastic pollution.
- Strengthen UNEP’s governance and decision‑making processes through rigorous legal analysis.
- Facilitate the development, negotiation and adoption of an international legally binding instrument on plastic pollution by offering strategic advice to intergovernmental bodies and treaty negotiation processes.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in law with specialization in international or environmental law.
- Demonstrated experience in treaty negotiation, intergovernmental processes, or similar legal advisory roles.
- Strong analytical and drafting skills applied to complex legal instruments.
