About the role

UNOPS is seeking a seasoned Legal Specialist to provide authoritative commercial legal advice across its global projects. The role offers significant autonomy, allowing you to shape legal solutions that support the organization’s development and humanitarian missions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise Project Offices on commercial matters, including review and negotiation of legal agreements.
• Provide legal support for partnership, framework, funding, procurement, and grant agreements.
• Assist with hosted initiatives, joint programmes, and multi‑donor trust funds.
• Represent UNOPS in negotiations with external parties on contracts and agreements.
• Coordinate interactions between business units, local legal retainers, external counsel, and UN legal advisors.
• Recommend policy and procedural changes based on field experience.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in commercial, public international, dispute resolution, and administrative law.
• Proven ability to manage a portfolio of complex legal work independently.
• Strong client‑relationship skills to ensure reliable service delivery.
• Capacity to protect UNOPS from legal, financial, and reputational risks.
