Logistics Associate – Nairobi Regional Office

About the role

The European Commission’s Directorate General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) is seeking a Logistics Associate to join its Nairobi Regional Office. The role supports procurement, equipment provision and overall logistics for the office and its regional partners, ensuring smooth operations and compliance with EU procurement standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage procurement of office supplies, equipment and services, including tendering, comparative analysis and contract preparation.
• Prepare and submit Administrative Requests for Authorisation (ARAs) and purchase orders following DG ECHO and EU procurement rules.
• Maintain and update the office procurement plan, supplier list and price‑lists.
• Monitor contractor performance, warranties and after‑sales services, and ensure timely repairs of office and non‑ICT equipment.
• Track inventory, conduct stock checks and report changes to DG ECHO property.
• Liaise with the ICT Associate on communication equipment maintenance and with other DG ECHO field offices on logistics and protocol matters.
• Provide surge support to regional offices during unplanned absences, crises or office expansions.

Required profile

• National staff member based in Nairobi.
• Demonstrated experience in procurement and logistics support within an office environment.
• Strong knowledge of DG ECHO and EU procurement regulations and best practices.
• Commitment to strict confidentiality and accurate record‑keeping.
• Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders and manage supplier relationships.
