Operations Manager – Dining & Recreation (Jake’s Place)

About the role

The Jake’s Place Manager will lead day‑to‑day operations of dining, recreation and entertainment services on Diego Garcia, supporting a unique US Navy program. This role ensures high customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and strict compliance with military and contract standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute all dining, beverage, recreation and entertainment activities.
• Develop and enforce operational policies, procedures and best practices.
• Supervise, train and mentor staff to maintain service excellence.
• Monitor customer feedback and continuously improve service offerings.
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting, cost control and resource allocation.
• Manage inventory of food, beverages, supplies and equipment.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are met.
• Coordinate events with government representatives and respond to emergencies within one hour of notification.
• Maintain accurate records and reports for audits and reviews.
• Promote activities through appropriate media channels to increase participation.

Required profile

• A four‑year degree in business management, hospitality, food services or a related field, or at least three years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food service, hospitality operations and government contract compliance.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Ability to work on‑site in a remote, military environment.
