About the role
The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) is seeking a Post‑Doctoral Fellow to advance research on nematode management and soil health. The Fellow will generate high‑quality scientific outputs, mentor junior researchers, and contribute to the institute’s mission of improving agricultural sustainability in sub‑Saharan Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Design and plan laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments focused on nematode assessment and soil health.
- Implement experiments, ensure protocol compliance, and oversee data collection across multiple sites.
- Conduct statistical analyses, interpret results, and prepare manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
- Develop technical reports, briefs, and other knowledge products for dissemination.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners and provide scientific mentorship to postgraduate students.
- Contribute to research proposals and scientific communications.
Required profile
- PhD in Nematology, Soil Science, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in designing and executing laboratory, greenhouse, and field research.
- Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
