Production Supervisor – Biochar Pyrolysis (Fixed-Term)

About the role

One Acre Fund is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead shift‑level operations on its biochar pyrolysis lines under the Tupande brand in Kenya. The role combines line supervision, safety oversight, and coordination with multiple support functions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑shift briefings covering safety, production targets, and task assignments.
• Monitor performance of both pyrolysis lines, respond to faults, and manage safety events.
• Coordinate operators, maintenance staff, forklift drivers, lab analysts, and control‑room personnel.
• Manage staggered breaks to ensure continuous line coverage.
• Execute shift handovers, including PLC parameter review, equipment sign‑off, and logging of output, faults, and safety observations.
• Supervise all shift personnel, including contractors and casual labor.
• Oversee packaging activities (bagging, weighing, sealing, batch ID labeling) to meet quality and safety standards.
• Coach team members and flag performance or capability gaps.
• Identify operational improvement opportunities and escalate unresolved technical or safety issues.
• Act as Safety Marshal, performing regular safety walkthroughs and enforcing PPE compliance.

Required profile

• 2‑3 years of experience supervising shift‑level production in an industrial setting.
• Ability to lead diverse teams and maintain strict safety standards.
• First Aid certification is a plus and may be required.

Required skills

• PLC operation and parameter monitoring.
• Knowledge of biochar pyrolysis processes.
• First Aid certification.
