Program Director – Agricultural Enterprise Market Ecosystems

About the role

TechnoServe is seeking a dynamic and motivated Program Director to lead the five‑year AgEMERGE (Agricultural Enterprise‑led Market Ecosystems for Resilience, Growth and Equity) program in Kenya. The position is based in Nairobi and will oversee a €15 million, milestone‑based grants facility and co‑investment portfolio aimed at strengthening midstream agribusinesses.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall implementation and management of AgEMERGE from inception to close‑out.
• Manage the grants facility and co‑investment portfolio, including awards to local businesses.
• Liaise with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN) and coordinate with sub‑national regional leadership and in‑country partners.
• Supervise project teams, oversee implementation and resource management across project offices.
• Provide financial and administrative oversight, ensure accurate reporting, and manage risk.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities for the program.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large development programs, preferably in agriculture or food security.
• Strong knowledge of market systems development and inclusive value‑chain approaches.
• Experience managing grants, co‑investment portfolios, and multi‑partner consortia.
• Demonstrated ability to work across diverse stakeholders, including government, donors, and private sector partners.
• Commitment to gender equity and youth empowerment in agribusiness.
