Project Accountant – Ewaso Ng'iro Basin Water and Climate Resilience Project

About the role

The Water Sector Trust Fund is seeking a Project Accountant to manage the day‑to‑day financial operations of the Ewaso‑Ng'iro Basin Water and Climate Resilience Project (EWCP). The role ensures that financial strategies, policies, procedures and controls are applied effectively, supporting donor compliance and prudent use of programme resources.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and reconcile implementing partners' individual ledgers and the project’s general ledger.
• Review financial reports, transaction listings, payment vouchers and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and internal financial policies.
• Prepare periodic financial statements and management reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow monitoring for the project.
• Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders and implementing partners on financial matters.
• Maintain proper internal controls and documentation for audit readiness.

Required profile

• Highly qualified, experienced and motivated professional.
• Demonstrated experience in project accounting and donor‑funded programmes.
• Strong knowledge of financial management, reporting and reconciliation.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with multiple partners.
