Project Accountant – Nairobi

About the role

The Tree of Life Charitable Trust is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial management of the WINGS project in Kenya. The role ensures accurate processing of transactions, payroll administration, and compliance with donor and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process financial transactions for office and project expenditures and maintain an effective filing system.
• Maintain accurate records, reconcile accounts, and ensure all accounting data are up‑to‑date and fully supported.
• Review payment requests and verify data against the financial management system.
• Manage payments, fund transfers, prepaid, payable, receivable accounts, payrolls and accruals following FADV policies.
• Prepare monthly payroll, generate deduction reports and ensure statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, HELB) are submitted.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and submit them for review by the 5th of each month.
• Facilitate procurement in line with AICS and PRAG guidelines.
• Assist the Finance Officer in preparing financial reports for all Tree of Life projects in Kenya.

Required profile

• Experience in project accounting for donor‑funded programmes.
• Familiarity with Kenyan statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE, HELB).
• Ability to prepare and review bank reconciliations and financial reports.
