About the role
The Protection Associate will lead structured case management services for refugees and asylum seekers experiencing psychosocial distress. This position focuses on assessment, planning, referrals and follow‑up to ensure timely, confidential support while integrating mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) principles into broader protection interventions.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments and vulnerability screenings, develop individualized case plans and monitor progress.
- Make timely referrals to appropriate services, maintain follow‑up and document all case information in the case management system.
- Maintain and update service mapping and referral pathways to support integrated case management.
- Identify individuals needing specialized mental health care and coordinate referrals.
- Integrate basic psychosocial support principles into case management for a trauma‑informed approach.
- Participate in outreach activities, community‑based identification and referral mechanisms.
- Conduct mental health awareness activities to promote help‑seeking and reduce stigma.
- Collaborate with protection teams to ensure coordinated, holistic support for vulnerable individuals.
- Build and maintain relationships with partners, community structures and service providers.
- Prepare accurate reports on case management activities, trends and service gaps.
- Support training and capacity building on case management, safe handling and ethical standards.
Required profile
- A degree in psychology, sociology, social work, community development or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in case management within MHPSS or protection programming, preferably with refugees or vulnerable populations.
- Knowledge of case management principles, IASC MHPSS guidelines, safeguarding frameworks, Accountability to Affected Populations and PSEA.

What we offer
- Gross monthly remuneration of Ksh 79,875.
