Senior Finance Analyst – Africa

About the role

The Senior Finance Analyst will support the Regional Finance Manager in overseeing financial performance, compliance, and risk management across CIMMYT country offices in Africa. This role ensures that financial controls and institutional policies are consistently applied and that audit findings are addressed promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor financial performance, key indicators, and management reports to identify risks and trends.
• Review adherence to finance policies, Delegation of Authority, and internal control requirements.
• Conduct risk‑based finance reviews, compliance monitoring, and prepare testing samples and exception analyses.
• Identify policy deviations, control weaknesses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate internal and external audit activities, track findings, and follow up on remediation plans.
• Report audit observations, risk trends, and implementation status to regional finance leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Audit or a related field.
• Professional accounting or audit qualification preferred (CPA, ACCA, CA, CIA, CMA, CISA or equivalent).
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, audit, compliance, internal controls, risk management or financial analysis.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, compliance frameworks, risk management and governance principles.
