Senior Investment Officer – Project & Infrastructure Finance

About the role

The Eastern and Southern Africa Trade and Development Bank (TDB) is seeking a Senior Investment Officer on a consulting basis to support its Project and Infrastructure Finance (PIF) team. The consultant will lead the end‑to‑end execution of investment transactions under the ASCENT REAF project, building a pipeline of bankable clean‑energy projects and ensuring successful financial close.

Key responsibilities

• Originate and develop new investment opportunities in renewable energy, clean cooking and distributed energy systems.
• Conduct comprehensive due diligence, financial modeling and credit analysis.
• Structure transactions, prepare credit proposals and obtain internal approvals.
• Negotiate terms, draft and review legal documentation.
• Manage the financial close process and subsequent disbursement of funds.
• Monitor project performance and risk throughout the lifecycle.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• At least 10 years of finance experience with a Development Finance Institution, commercial bank or financial advisory firm.
• Minimum 8 years of project or corporate finance experience.
• At least 3 years of direct experience financing renewable energy, clean cooking or distributed energy projects.
