Senior Lecturer – Midwifery and Obstetric Nursing

About the role

AMREF Health Africa is seeking a Senior Lecturer to lead teaching and research in Midwifery and Obstetric Nursing. The role combines classroom instruction, curriculum development, and scholarly activity within a dynamic academic environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials and practical sessions, develop and update digital teaching materials.
• Assess and grade assignments, exams and projects, providing constructive feedback.
• Supervise undergraduate research projects, theses and dissertations.
• Participate in curriculum design, review and accreditation processes.
• Conduct individual or collaborative research, publish findings and seek research funding.
• Engage in departmental administration, student advising and exam coordination.
• Collaborate with external organisations and represent the institution in professional forums.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Midwifery, Obstetric Nursing or a related health discipline.
• Significant teaching experience at the university level.
• Demonstrated research record with publications in peer‑reviewed venues.
• Experience in curriculum development and academic leadership.
• Ability to mentor students and junior staff.
