Senior Legal Claims Officer

About the role

The Senior Legal Claims Officer will lead the end‑to‑end processing of insurance claims, ensuring compliance with legal and policy requirements while providing expert advice to claimants and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review claim documents to confirm completeness and compliance with insurance requirements.
• Advise customers on coverage matters related to their claims.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries about benefits, claim processes, and required forms.
• Record all claim transactions, including appointments of advocates, doctors, and investigators.
• Maintain and update legal claims registers, meeting minutes, and various claim reports.
• Track appeal deposits and manage external advocates on the Britam panel.
• Review advocate legal costs against SLA and remuneration orders.
• Process payments to insured parties and service providers.
• Assist with third‑party recoveries, subrogation, and settlement activities.
• Support reserve reviews and provide legal advice on judgments and out‑of‑court matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) and PDG from KSL.
• 6‑9 years of experience in insurance claims processing.
• Strong knowledge of insurance law, regulatory compliance, and claims reserving.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, AIIK or ACII are an advantage.
• Continuous legal education (CLE) points obtained annually.
