Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems

About the role

The Senior Software Engineer – Distributed Systems will design, build and support highly scalable, resilient, and secure services that power critical transaction processing in a banking environment. The position can be based in Singapore or China and works on end‑to‑end solutions that require low latency, high throughput, and strong data consistency.

Key responsibilities

• Shape engineering direction for high‑availability distributed systems, focusing on scalability, resilience and maintainability.
• Design and implement fault‑tolerant backend services for high‑volume transaction processing, including APIs, queues and streaming integrations.
• Develop validation, idempotency, recovery and observability mechanisms to ensure data integrity and operational reliability.
• Promote engineering excellence through code quality, automation, reusable patterns and secure development practices.
• Collaborate with peers, contribute to technical reviews, documentation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing and delivering large‑scale distributed systems in a performance‑critical domain.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to address ambiguous technical challenges.
• Self‑driven ownership, curiosity and a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Go or Java.
• Experience with durable execution platforms such as Temporal or DBOS.
• Hands‑on knowledge of APIs, message queues and streaming platforms.
• Understanding of secure engineering practices, observability and fault‑tolerance patterns.
