About the role
The Special Needs Educator will join Ubuntu Life Foundation’s school in Westlands, Nairobi, to develop and nurture the skills of learners with disabilities. You will work closely with the SNE team and other staff to ensure inclusive curriculum delivery and optimal development for each child.
Key responsibilities
- Teach children with disabilities, implementing the school curriculum and adapting materials to individual needs.
- Collaborate with parents, teachers, counselors, and therapists to monitor progress and design holistic intervention plans.
- Assess student abilities, create personalized teaching plans, and track continuous assessment results.
- Manage classroom behavior, resolve conflicts, and prepare learners for transitions to subsequent learning phases.
- Coach and mentor fellow professionals working with special needs learners.
- Facilitate co‑curricular activities and ensure meaningful participation of SNE learners in all school aspects.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education or a related field.
- 2–3 years of teaching experience with learners who have disabilities.
- Commitment to dignity, inclusion, and independence of learners.
