Sports Lead (International School) – Nairobi

About the role

The school is seeking a dynamic Sports Lead to oversee all physical education, swimming, and external coaching programmes. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape the sports curriculum and foster a vibrant, values‑driven environment for students.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and line‑manage PE teachers, swimming instructors and external coaches.
• Develop and implement an annual Sports & PE strategic plan aligned with the school vision.
• Create a comprehensive yearly sports calendar covering PE, swimming, galas, competitions and inter‑school events.
• Conduct regular lesson observations, provide feedback and ensure 100% curriculum coverage.
• Standardise schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment frameworks.
• Plan and organise after‑school sports trainings and major events such as inter‑house competitions, sports days and tournaments.
• Manage logistics, equipment inventory and safety protocols.
• Communicate sports schedules to staff and parents and undertake any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related field.
• Minimum five years’ teaching experience in an international school setting.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Additional teaching subject qualification is an advantage.
• Swimming qualification or lifeguard certification (preferred).
• Coaching certifications are a plus.
