Teacher Intern – Secondary School (Kenyan Nationals Only)

About the role
LWF is looking for a motivated Teacher Intern to join its secondary school program in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei settlement areas. Under the guidance of the Principal, you will deliver quality education aligned with the Kenyan curriculum while supporting student development.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare lesson plans, schemes of work and instructional materials in line with the CBC/8-4-4/KCSE syllabus.
- Deliver lessons using effective teaching methods and ICT tools, ensuring coverage of the syllabus within set timelines.
- Design and administer continuous assessments, record marks accurately and provide feedback to learners, parents and school administration.
- Maintain classroom discipline, monitor attendance and create a conducive learning environment.
- Provide guidance, counselling and support for learners with special needs, and encourage participation in co‑curricular activities.
- Keep up‑to‑date records, attend school meetings and contribute to administrative duties such as class teacher or club patron roles.
- Participate in professional development workshops, seminars and in‑service training organised by the Teachers Service Commission.
Required profile
- Bachelor of Education (Arts, Science or Special Needs Education).
- Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (valid TSC number/certificate).
- Specialisation in at least two teaching subjects (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, English, Literature).
- Knowledge of the CBC and/or 8‑4‑4 curriculum and KCSE examinations.

- ICT integration in teaching.
