Trainer – Clinical Medicine & Surgery (Kitale Centre)

About the role

Trainer, Clinical Medicine & Surgery delivering lectures, practical training and clinical rotations for Clinical Medicine and Surgery students. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Medicine, a valid practising licence from the Clinical Officers Council and a minimum of three years of clinical and teaching experience in a university environment. The role is based on‑site at the Kitale Centre.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, instruct and deliver the Clinical Medicine and Surgery curriculum through lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and practical sessions.
• Provide hands‑on training in patient examination, diagnostic procedures, clinical decision‑making and relevant surgical techniques.
• Supervise and guide students during practical and clinical training to ensure safe skill acquisition.
• Organise and oversee clinical rotations in hospitals, health centres and approved training facilities.
• Prepare and administer examinations, assignments and practical assessments, and evaluate student performance.
• Mentor students, offering academic and career guidance, and maintain accurate records of attendance and competencies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Medicine from a recognised institution.
• Valid practising licence from the Clinical Officers Council.
• Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical and teaching experience at a recognised university, TVET institution or other tertiary training institution.
