Underwriting Credit Analyst – C11 (French Speaking)

About the role

The Underwriting Credit Analyst (C11) will join Citi’s credit team in Nairobi, focusing on complex financial statements and loan analysis. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate findings clearly to Credit Officers and Relationship Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Review new, renewal and interim financial statements and tax returns, with emphasis on complex entities such as not‑for‑profit organisations.
• Perform credit analysis, including cash‑flow modelling, debt‑service coverage, collateral coverage and guarantor net‑worth calculations.
• Provide concise analysis of customers, portfolios and industry trends.
• Advise Credit Officers and Relationship Managers on loan covenant interpretation and monitoring.
• Conduct quality‑assurance reviews of application packages before underwriting submission.
• Coach and train junior Credit Analyst I staff and support the Application Preparation Team Manager.
• May act as an industry specialist for SBA/EXIM loan analysis.

Required profile

• Entry‑level professional with up to 24 months of relevant experience.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Strong understanding of banking credit standards and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
