Waste Truck Assistant/Janitor

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Waste Truck Assistant/Janitor to support our waste collection team in Nairobi. The role involves assisting the driver, handling waste safely, and maintaining cleanliness at collection points.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the waste collection team with daily loading, unloading and transport of waste.
• Support the Waste Truck Driver on assigned routes and report any operational issues.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene around collection points, sweeping, disinfecting and cleaning equipment.
• Use and care for personal protective equipment and follow health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Report hazards, spills or damaged equipment to supervisors promptly.
• Collaborate with drivers, supervisors and other team members to meet daily collection schedules.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Cleaning, Waste Management, Environmental Management or a related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in waste collection, janitorial services or facilities management.
• Practical experience handling waste and cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of basic health, safety, hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Experience in commercial, residential, institutional or industrial settings is an advantage.
