Business Development Advisor – Kakuma

About the role

The Business Development Advisor will work directly with micro‑ and small‑enterprise entrepreneurs in the Kakuma community, supporting them to grow their businesses and improve livelihoods. Reporting to the Business Growth Services team, the advisor will act as a bridge between Inkomoko’s programmes and the local entrepreneurs, ensuring effective mobilisation, training and business consulting.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, enrol and mobilise entrepreneurs that meet programme criteria, communicating details clearly and representing Inkomoko in community outreach.
• Report any challenges faced by participants to Inkomoko leadership and advise on cultural fit of participants.
• Organise and deliver training sessions, handling logistics such as printing materials, venue setup, attendance tracking and timely start of sessions.
• Provide training in Somali, Kiswahili and English using Inkomoko’s curriculum, and review modules with senior trainers for improvements.
• Complete all training programmes within budget and schedule, and provide business‑consulting support to participants as needed.

Required profile

• Experience working with micro‑enterprise or small‑business clients, preferably in East African contexts.
• Strong communication and community‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in Somali, Kiswahili and English.
• Willingness to travel within the Kakuma area and work directly with refugee and women entrepreneurs.
