General Manager – Air Cargo Terminal

About the role

The General Manager will lead a major air cargo terminal in Nairobi, overseeing all operational, commercial and regulatory aspects. This senior position requires deep expertise in high‑volume, time‑critical cargo handling and the ability to drive growth and profitability.

Key responsibilities

• Direct overall terminal performance, including operations, safety, security and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and execute commercial strategies to increase cargo volumes and revenue.
• Manage P&L, budgets and financial reporting for the terminal.
• Lead and develop large, multi‑disciplinary teams to ensure high service standards.
• Maintain strong relationships with airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, customs and airport authorities.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in air cargo, airport cargo operations, ground handling or aviation logistics.
• Proven track record of managing complex, high‑volume logistics environments.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen with responsibility for P&L and budget control.
• Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance and meet background screening requirements.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with airlines, freight forwarders and regulatory bodies.
