Investment Dealer

About the role

The Investment Dealer provides treasury management and trading administrative support, acting as the technical bridge between investment decisions and transaction settlement. The role ensures that portfolio tactical decisions are executed accurately, timely, and in line with risk and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare dealing tickets for intermediaries and log them accurately in the fund management system.
• Execute competitive trades with placement counterparties, aiming to maximize returns while managing risk and tax efficiency.
• Ensure timely settlement of trades with custodians and the investment system.
• Negotiate and close investment opportunities with potential counterparties.
• Implement investment decisions approved by the Investment Committee in coordination with investment managers.
• Maintain complete documentation of all trades in compliance with internal procedures.
• Recommend rebalancing actions based on market developments and cash‑flow needs.
• Monitor upcoming investment maturities and roll‑overs, informing managers and private‑wealth clients.
• Build and sustain relationships with banks, brokers, custodians, and other market participants.
• Coordinate review meetings with listed and unlisted institutions and potential issuers.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements, the Enterprise‑Wide Risk Management Framework, and internal Absa policies.

Required profile

• Technical expertise in treasury operations and investment settlement.
• Strong understanding of portfolio management, asset allocation, and investment policy statements.
• Ability to interpret and apply risk management guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in trade documentation.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder and counter‑party management.
