Security Specialist (Level P-3) – Fixed Term, Nairobi

About the role

The Security Specialist (Level P-3) is based in Nairobi and provides integrated security support to all UNICEF offices in Kenya. The role ensures safe operations, manages risk, and coordinates security activities across a growing footprint.

Key responsibilities

• Lead security risk management and planning for UNICEF Nairobi offices.
• Deliver security services, including incident management and access support.
• Analyse programmatic security information to inform decision‑making.
• Build and maintain security networks and partnerships with UNDSS and other actors.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity building in security practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in security studies, international relations, political science, criminology, emergency management, public administration, risk management or related field (or equivalent combination of Bachelor’s degree plus two years experience).
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in security, global security risk management or security analysis.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language or a local language is an asset.
• Demonstrated understanding of the United Nations Security Management System and experience in fragile or humanitarian contexts is desirable.
