Senior Investment Dealer

About the role

The Senior Investment Dealer will lead the execution, management and optimisation of Absa’s investment portfolio across approved asset classes in the Kenyan financial markets. Reporting to the Investment Committee, the role combines deal execution, liquidity management, risk control and market research while mentoring junior dealers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare dealing tickets for intermediaries and ensure accurate, timely entry into the fund management system.
• Execute competitive trades with placement counterparties, aiming to maximise returns while managing risk and tax efficiency.
• Ensure timely settlement of trades with custodians and the investment system.
• Negotiate and close investment opportunities in line with the Investment Committee’s decisions.
• Maintain complete documentation of all trades in compliance with internal procedures.
• Recommend portfolio rebalancing actions based on market developments and cash‑flow needs.
• Monitor upcoming maturities, roll‑overs and communicate relevant information to investment managers and private‑wealth clients.
• Track macro‑economic trends, interest‑rate movements, inflation, FX and market sentiment to support asset‑allocation decisions.
• Provide investment ideas, trading strategies and market commentary to the Investment Committee.
• Build and sustain relationships with banks, brokers, custodians and other market participants.
• Support client reporting and investment reviews as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in investment dealing within Kenyan or similar emerging markets.
• Strong understanding of risk management, liquidity management and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to mentor junior dealers and work collaboratively with investment managers.
• Excellent analytical and market‑research capabilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
